Are you a trans or nonbinary person who has experienced pregnancy?
Seahorses is an upcoming anthology of personal essays by and for trans and nonbinary people who have been pregnant! Seahorses is edited by Simon Knaphus, a trans dad who has been pregnant multiple times and given birth to two fabulous kids post-transition. Simon’s publications include essays on transgender pregnancy and parenting in Rad Dad: Dispatches From the Frontiers of Fatherhood and Rad Families: A Celebration.
Please consider sharing an essay about your experience, in support of each other and those who come after us. No writing experience needed! Seahorses is looking for personal stories that share the many varied ways trans and nonbinary people experience pregnancy. Stories about conception, birth, miscarriage, abortion, and the many phases of pregnancy are all welcome, as are stories about the different ways we experience pregnancy: socially, physically, spiritually, the sky is the limit! Pregnancy can be many things, and we welcome a range of experiences including those that are difficult, complex, negative, positive, joyful, bittersweet, and more. Please tell your story, in your voice! Writing support is available. Submissions will ideally be 1000-4000 words.
Seahorses is especially committed to publishing BIPOC voices, and those of people with disabilities and other marginalized experiences. If you want to participate but are facing barriers, please get in touch. Submissions are welcome in all languages!
