For a counterpoint to this comment, I recommend Ijeoma Oluo ’s book So You Want to Talk About Race, specifically Chapter 1 “Is it really about race?” (though there’s also a chapter devoted to affirmative action). It clearly spells out why addressing this as a class issue will not fix problems much for POC. Yes, let’s be intersectional — let’s definitely take on class as well — but rather than throw people under the bus because white people (of any class) don’t like how affirmative action sounds, let’s expand on it, because it’s working, and fight all the good fights at the same time.
