Great idea, Jun Wu ! An online magazine I used to write for had us run everything through a free plagiarism checker before submitting. This tech definitely exists already.

I can see an issue with us being able to republish any work we own the copyright to on Medium, so AI might not be able to handle that aspect if it was checking writing against the whole intetnet (our reprints might look like plagiarism).

But I agree it’d be great if Medium could figure out how to do this.
