I was just thinking about The Left Hand of Darkness today, and the common criticism that she just wrote the supposedly agender people as if they were a society of men who occasionally did things we think of as feminine. It’s my husband’s very favorite book, but I didn’t love it. (I do love all the Earthsea books, though.)

The criticism is interesting in terms of your quote. I think I read that essay a long time ago. Time for another read!
