I’m sure every parent in every era feels this, but right now, I am feeling, “Wow, what a terrifying time to raise a kid.”

I have so far avoided this battery mentality. I don’t even bring a phone everywhere I go, and the sound is always off. My battery never runs out (and so I never think/worry about it) because its default position is plugged in at home.

I still use it more than I would’ve imagined before I owned it, and I fully feel its addictive pull, but so far I’ve managed to keep it as a tool, not a master.

But then I read stuff like this and realize how bonkers tech is making so many people around me, and I just think about my kid growing up in this world. And…bleh.
