It’s always kinda bugged me that Human Parts chose a photo of two white people in bed for my first piece with them. It weirded me out because it didn’t represent me, but also because that piece — unlike other writing I’m equally proud of with more diverse photos — was shared a bazillion times.

I kept wondering if I used more stock photos of white people, would more people read/share my writing? Would feeding the culture’s implicit racism help me earn a living? While simultaneously exacerbating the problem?

Great piece!
