Kent Leatham, such a great response! I was going to comment about doubling up with condoms too. I was on the pill for all of my pre-marriage life, and I still used condoms with each new male partner until we’d built trust (and both gotten up-to-date STI tests). Ruth Stewart, your piece is such a great reminder of how glad I am to be monogomous with a partner who’s had a vasectomy. It’s such a relief to finally not have to deal with birth control.
I think if I was in a relationship where we were using a male pill as our only form of birth control, I would want to be able to see the pills to make sure they were taken; I was always surprised my male partners didn’t want to do the same with my pills. I think about how often my husband leaves the stove on (like, all the freakin’ time), and I just know I could relax more if I could see things were taken care of.
