I had really mixed experiences at WIC. One worker told me I was starving my newborn and when I said I was open to supplementing she said I needed to add 19 oz of formula a day. And when I said why not supplement with just a little so I could keep trying to primarily do breast, she got angry at me and I feared she was going to take my baby.

I got my next appointment with a different woman, who held me while I cried and made the phone call for me for a lactation consultant appointment.

We definitely need more support all around, and especially for low-income and POC.
