Thanks for the rec! My library doesn’t have it, but I did just notice another book on display in the kids’ section this week about NASA women (somebody else was checking it out!)

Yes, almost every bear is either a mama or a little boy. An easy switch for us (I love hearing my husband and I aren’t the only ones doing it, hehe ❤), but I think of all the families who don’t think/want to switch. Thank goodness librarians are usually radical and seeking out more diverse books now!

Our local children’s librarians are incredible, but we had a sub one day, and I noticed she was overdoing the hes, so I started keeping track, and I counted 40-something different he characters and 1 she. Most of it wasn’t even books; it was felt boards and puppets and stuff where she had total pronoun choice.

I talked to her about it afterward (after complimenting her storytelling, of course) and she immediately said, “Yeah, it’s on my radar. It’s a shame that children’s books are like that.”

Blargh.
