Well, the idea with Mars is the discovery of something totally new (or old) could answer questions about how life came to be, or about how/if we could colonize other planets. Meanwhile, due to human actions, tons of species are going extinct on Earth, so it’s not like non-human cells/life are in general being elevated above human.
