Yes! A white lady in my community was comparing her having to wear a mask in the grocery store to Jews wearing yellow stars in the Holocaust, and when I posted on my own Facebook asking for our mutual friends to tell her why that was fucked, someone commented to me, "I don't think our town is anti-Israel."

Like, first of all, your impulse is to get defensive and tell me how not-antisemitic our super-white hippie town actually is? You think that's helpful right now?

And second, ISRAEL? I'd said nothing about Israel.

Oh, and the craziest thing is when I commented to her that Judaism and Israel weren't the same thing, she replied, "Oh, a Jewish friend of mine told me she thought people here were anti-Israel."

So like, the reason she was telling me our community WASN'T anti-Israel was because another Jew had told her our community WAS anti-Israel?

Exhausting.
